Who loves the pre-Raphaelite look? I do, I do!

I was wrong about the "Renaissance eyes" in Shannon's post... she's really much more of a pre-Raphaelite. See this beauty shot, followed by period paintings by Rossetti... such grace and beauty in their romantic postures. And if you are looking for a good literary mystery, try "Possession"by AS Byatt (bonus - my copy has a lovely reproduction of The Beguiling of Merlin by Edward Burne-Jones on the cover).

Real Weddings Fashion Story

Ok, maybe "real" is a wee stretch... not only did our model not get married (after trying on so many lovely frocks), but I seriously doubt she actually has a fiance! Ah well, it's a sweet little dream of a spread and I'm pretty happy to see it out in print now. :)

Unexpected beauty

Sometimes the unexpected happens. I go for tea at a favourite cafe and I'm surprised to see a new girl working there who has the most amazing long red hair (I couldn't wait to get my curling tongs on!), and eyes like a Renaissance painting. I then surprise myself, and her, by giving her my card asking her to contact me if she'd like to do a photoshoot (which she's never done before).

I never have the courage to just approach strangers, so I am not expecting a response, but then she contacts me to say she's in.

But the real surprise was the result... the unexpected beauty of these fashion portraits shot by Fred on the large format film camera.

Things that make me smile

How can you resist... watch and listen... and smile.

I want this life.

It ain't make-up, but it's another kind of art...

It's been a while since I've done any illustration work, but I was just looking through my portfolio and saw some works that still make me smile. Here are some that I did for for clients, and some just for me. All kinds of media, all kinds of styles, but all analog and all mine. Guess I'm kind of a magpie illustrator.
